Guide for Submission
Section 1 Publishing Scope
The journal mainly reports advanced scientific research achievements and experience of clinical diagnosis and treatment in obstetrics and gynecology. The main readers are obstetrics and gynecological clinicians. Columns include Comment, Expert Forum, Research Article, Short Research Article, Clinical (Pathological) Discussion, Case Report, Lecture, Conference Summary, Correspondence, Review, Pharmacy and Medical Information.
Section 2 Requirement for Manuscripts
1. General Requirement: Manuscripts should be scientific and practical with clear argumentation, reliable reference, concise wording, clear structure and accurate data. Research articles shall not exceed 4500 Chinese characters. Short research articles, case reports, technology and methods should not exceed 2500 Chinese characters.
2. Title: Title should be appropriate, concise and clear, well reflecting the content of the article, within 20 Chinese characters. English title should be corresponding to Chinese title in meaning and shall not exceed 10 nominal words.
3. Authors: Full names of authors should be listed beneath the title. Institutes, cities and postcodes should be included.
4. Abstract:
(1) Research articles should include structural abstract both in Chinese and English, which shall consist of four parts: Objective, Methods, Results and Conclusion. Chinese abstract should be about 300~500 characters and English abstract should be corresponding to Chinese abstract in meaning. ① Objective: briefly introduce the objective, cause, scope and significance of the study. ② Methods: specify the basic design, material, method, data processing and statistics of the study. ③ Results: list the main output of the data, state new findings and its values and limitations. The wording should be concrete and accurate. Confidence interval and P Value should be given. ④ Conclusion: Briefly explain the conclusion obtained from the argumentation, the theoretical value or application value and whether they can be recommended or popularized.
(2) Review articles should include descriptive abstract in Chinese and English, which is an independent and self-evident brief summary of the content, making readers learn about key points of the article through without reading full-text.
5. Key Words: Research and review articles should have 3~5 key words both in Chinese and English. Please try to use the words listed in the latest edition of Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) by the National Library of Medicine (USA). Other words could be used as key words if truly necessary.
6. Terminology: Medical terms shall be selected from Medical Terms published by Science Press and reviewed by the National Scientific and Technical Terms Review and Approval Committee. For terms without commonly-used translation, the original words shall be included in brackets when they appear for the first time in the manuscript. The names of Chinese and Western medicines shall be subject to Pharmacopoeia of the People's Republic of China (2000), for which general names shall be used in stead of commercial names.
7. Units of Measurement: Units of measurement should comply with the provisions of the Legal Unit of Measurement of the People's Republic of China issued by the State Council and shall be expressed in proper symbols (Latin or Greek letters in italics except for pH value).
8. Numeral Symbols: Arabic numbers should be used wherever appropriate, e.g., Gregorian calendar, time, counting, measurement, etc. Fraction shall be indicated by a slash, except for formulas.
9. Figures and Tables: Each figure or table shall be numbered successively according to the order of appearing, and shall be preceded by a self-evident heading. Three-line style shall be adopted but vertical line should be avoided. Illustrations shall be drawn or photographed by professionals. Letters, numbers and symbols in figures shall be clear, still recognizable even reduced. The magnification and staining method shall be indicated if applicable. Symbols, arrows or letters in figures should be clearly contrasted with the backgrounds. If a portrait is published, the written consent of the person concerned shall be obtained, or the identifiable part pixeled. Proper credit shall be given to the source if any information is quoted form other literatures. For contents that can be explained in words, figures and tables shall be avoided.
10. Statistical Symbols: The use of statistical symbols should comply with the Provisions of Statistical Vocabulary and Symbols (GB 3358.1-2009). Remarks: ① arithmetic mean is in English lowercase (median is still M); ② standard deviation is in English lowercase s; ③ standard error is in English lowercase ; ④ t-test is in English lowercase t; ⑤ F-test is in English capital letter F; ⑥ Chi. square test is in Greek lower case χ2; ⑦ correlation coefficient is in English lowercase r ; ⑧ degree of freedom is in Greek small γ; ⑨ probability is in English capital letter P (specific test value shall be given before P value, such as t value, χ2 value, Q value, etc.). All symbols mentioned above should be in italics.
11. Acknowledgement: Authors can acknowledge the contribution of collaborators who have participated in some of the work, as well as those who have provided guidance and funding. In principle, the consent should be obtained for those who are mentioned in acknowledgement.
12. References: References shall be in accordance with Rules for Post-Text Reference Format (GB / T 7714-2005). The cited literatures should be marked with Arabic numerals in square brackets according to the order in which they appear in the manuscript. Citations in notations of figures or tables shall also be numbered. Abstract, observational documents, personal mails should not be cited as references. Secondary references should be avoided. For references, Only the first three authors are listed, followed by "et al." The journal name in roman letters shall be abbreviated in the standard format of Index Medicus. Section 3 Submission Method and Other Matters
1. Funding and Awarding Information: If the submitted article is funded by national, ministerial or provincial projects, or belongs to a “key research project”, it should be noted at the bottom left of the first page of the article. The format is "Funding projects: project title (number)". A copy of the funding certificate should be provided. If the submitted article has won a scientific and technological achievement award or an invention award at provincial or ministerial level or above (no matter before or after the publishing), it should be advised to the editorial office and a copy of certificate should be provided.
2. Recommendation Letter: A letter of recommendation from the author’s institute should be submitted, which includes comments on the manuscript and proves that the article involves no multiple submission, no confidential affaires, and no dispute about signature. A brief introduction of the first author should also be included, indicating name, gender, birth place, date of birth and professional title.
3. Fast Track: Articles with significant achievement may be reviewed and published in "fast track". To apply for the "fast track", authors shall provide a written description of the innovation points and a plagiarism detection report. RMB 200 yuan shall be payable once “fast track” is confirmed. The fast-track articles will be published within 3~4 months after receiving the manuscript.
4. Fees: A Processing fee of RMB 50 shall be charged for all manuscripts submitted to the journal. After publishing is confirmed, a Page Charge would be payable. Color printing fee shall be charge if applicable. The page charge and color printing fee can be paid by project funds, research funds or other public expenses. For financial-challenged authors, the fees may be discounted or waivered as appropriate. After the article is published, the editorial office will pay a remuneration (including CD and online use) and post 1 copy of the current issue to authors.
